Canada Bay-Great Place To live But We Can make It Better
I was honoured to be elected as a Councillor in September 2017 and re elected in 2021. I have been proud to work with Councillor Julia Little. We hope to increase the representation of our team on council in the 14 September 2024 council elections.
The City of Canada Bay Council has been bought into disrepute in recent years arising from recent ICAC investigations and public hearings. Our local Mayor was sacked by the NSW Minister for Local Government. We deserve better with the next council elections an opportunity to ensure that our council regains its standing and reputation with the the highest possible standards.
I work full time in the finance/insurance industry. I have been Managing Director of the largest privately owned insurance broker in Australia for 12 years. More recently I have worked in a senior position with the largest listed insurance broker in Australia. I know how to run a business efficiently.
I understand business and am committed to efficiency, excellence and service to clients. A number of years ago I voted against the excessive 30-50% increase in council rates last year. Council needs to apply business principals to ensure ratepayers money is not wasted. Also we need to concentrate on core business and not just glamour projects and photo opportunities .
I am also active in many community organisations. I am Patron of the Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia and a Board member of the Cardiac Arrest Survivors Foundation.
In our local area I was the inaugural chair of the Rhodes Community Garden and assisted the formation of the Rhodes Multicultural Community Association.
My tertiary qualifications include Bachelor of Economics, Masters of Economics and Diploma in Urban Studies.
I have the qualifications, experience and commitment to help us make Canada Bay and even better place to live and work.
I am committed to representing local resident. You can connect with me at ‘Councillor Andrew Ferguson’ on Facebook or email through this web page. Alternatively you can text me on 0412 511 994.
